The kitchen garden, designed for the primary and early school students, aims to provide hands-on learning experiences about the importance of sustainability, healthy eating, and environmental stewardship. In his address, Dr Ashwin Fernandes, President of PACT Foundation, highlighted how such initiatives not only enhance the academic curriculum but also foster responsibility, teamwork, and a deeper connection with nature among young learners.

“A kitchen garden is more than just a space to grow plants. It is a living classroom that teaches children the value of hard work, patience, and the rewards of nurturing life. It equips them with skills that last a lifetime.”

— Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, President

Ms Phillipa Dsouza, a dedicated volunteer of PACT Foundation, was also present at the event, supporting the students and teachers as they explored the garden and planted saplings for a sustainable future. The event witnessed active participation from students, parents, and teachers, who expressed their excitement about incorporating gardening into the school’s activities.

The initiative aligns with PACT Foundation’s commitment to fostering holistic education that goes beyond traditional classroom learning. By engaging students in growing vegetables, herbs, and fruits, the garden provides an opportunity to learn about nutrition and sustainability while instilling a sense of pride and ownership in their work.

The principal and staff of G.P.S. Bambordem expressed their gratitude to PACT Foundation for introducing this unique project. They believe that the kitchen garden will be a valuable addition to the school, creating an interactive and dynamic learning environment.

The inauguration concluded with a tour of the garden and an interactive session where students shared their thoughts on taking care of the plants and contributing to the project’s success.
