St Xavier’s School, Moira, a private aided school, announced the completion of two major projects: a state-of-the-art Smart Classroom and a new playground for the Pre-Primary School. These upgrades aim to provide an engaging and digital learning experience for students in the high school, and a fun, safe space for pre-primary children to play.

These improvements are part of the “Happy School Project” by PACT Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering communities in Goa through knowledge and action. The foundation works on several initiatives to uplift students, youth, and women through empowerment programmes, focusing on projects that enhance educational opportunities, support skill development, and promote gender equality, all while aiming to create a ripple effect of positive change in local communities and beyond.

Mrs Noreen Dias, Headmistress of St Xavier’s School expressed appreciation, saying, “The Smart Classroom is already transforming the way our students engage with their studies, making learning more interactive and exciting. The new playground has added a wonderful space for our young children to enjoy, fostering physical activity and social development. This partnership is a testament to the positive changes that can be achieved when we work together for the betterment of our students.”

Fr Alexandre Pereira, Manager of St Xavier’s School, and Parish Priest of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, Moira, said “Our village has truly been blessed with these wonderful new facilities at St Xavier’s School. We are thankful to PACT Foundation for their generosity and vision, which will undoubtedly enrich the educational experiences and well-being of our students for years to come”

Dr Ashwin Fernandes, Founder of PACT Foundation, and Executive Director of QS Quacquarelli Symonds remarked, “Giving back to the community where I grew up is a privilege. These new facilities will make learning more interactive and encourage children to thrive.”

The PACT Foundation remains committed to uplifting education and community development across Goa.
